Highland social entrepreneur, Innes Morgan, joins the Highland CIC Board of Directors.
Highland Community Interest Company (Highland CIC) has announced the appointment of Innes Morgan, a young social entrepreneur and policy adviser from Caithness – mainland Britain’s most northerly point – to its Board of Directors.
This appointment marks a particularly significant milestone for both Innes and the organisation. In 2019, then aged just 16, Innes reached out to Highland CIC soon after its launch and became its very first ambassador – championing its mission to bring together communities and businesses across the region to build a sustainable and prosperous future.
Now, several years on, Innes joins the Board as one of the next generation of leaders shaping the Highlands’ future.
As Founder of Act with Purpose, a non-profit that helps governments, businesses, and civic institutions turn mission into measurable impact, Innes brings experience and a youth perspective on leadership, public service reform and policy innovation. He has supported organisations including the Scottish Government and the UK Cabinet Office, and previously led youth participation initiatives with the Scottish Rural & Islands Parliament. He also serves on the Scottish Government’s Open Government Steering Group, promoting collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth across Scotland and beyond.
Reflecting on his appointment, Innes said: “It’s a real honour to be joining the Highland CIC Board of Directors – an organisation with such innovative ambition for the Highlands to become a world leader in sustainable development. Growing up here, I’ve seen both the challenges and the incredible potential of our communities. I’m proud to contribute to shaping a future where young people play an active role in setting the groundwork now for a more sustainable, thriving Highlands.”
Yvonne Crook, Chair of Highland CIC, welcomed Innes to the Board, saying: “We are absolutely delighted that Innes is joining the Highland CIC Board of Directors following his years of support as an Ambassador. His youth perspective, energy and experience will be a valuable addition to our inspirational Board. Innes has been part of our journey from the beginning, and it’s been wonderful to see his leadership and influence grow. His appointment reflects our ongoing commitment to nurturing young Highland talent and ensuring that the voices of future generations are at the heart of sustainable development in the Highlands.”
Innes will also deliver a keynote speech at The Highland Sustainable Development Summit, taking place 25-26 November 2025 at the Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness. Book tickets here.
