Highland Renewables Roadshow travels to Skye

Skye’s community, destination and business leaders attend sustainable tourism roadshow

Highland Renewables continued its 2024 Roadshow series in Skye on Friday last week where leaders from the tourism and renewables sectors came together to discuss an investment and destination strategy for the Highlands. High on the agenda for the community representatives, business owners and destination organisations in attendance was the discussion on a shared vision for the Highlands and the iconic role Skye plays in attracting visitors as well as the management of tourism challenges. 

The Roadshow series, hosted by Kate Forbes MSP and sponsored by Statkraft, will make its final stop Fort William in June following events in Inverness, Dornoch and Grantown on Spey.

Kate Forbes, MSP and Highland Tourism CIC Ambassador, said, “It was great to see this series of roadshows continue on to Skye and to meet with the people on the ground in Skye and Lochalsh. The challenges are somewhat different in this part of the Highlands, but the opportunity for collaboration with Highland Tourism CIC and Highland Renewables is immense. I was really encouraged by the response and look forward to what can come from this partnership.”

A great opportunity for collaboration was uncovered.”
